Garvee 13-Inch Cordless Snow Blower: A Compact 20V Snow Shovel for Walkways and Driveways
The Garvee 13-Inch Cordless Snow Blower offers a battery-powered alternative to manual shoveling for smaller outdoor areas. Powered by a 20V 5.0Ah battery, it clears a path up to 13 inches wide and throws snow up to 16.5 feet. The package includes a quick charger, while an adjustable directional plate helps control where snow lands. At a very cost-effective price, this compact electric snow shovel is best suited to walkways, steps, decks, and smaller driveways where convenience matters more than heavy-duty clearing capacity.
Features That Make This Snow Blower Worth Considering
Cordless Operation for Everyday Snow Removal
The 20V battery system eliminates the need for an extension cord or gas engine, making it practical for clearing areas away from outdoor outlets. Garvee lists a runtime of approximately 25 minutes per charge, which should suit short clearing sessions after light snowfall. Larger driveways or extended jobs may require additional charging time.
Compact Clearing for Walkways and Steps
With a listed clearing width of 13 inches and a recommended snow depth of 4.7 inches, this model targets smaller areas rather than large driveways covered in deep snow. Its 16.5-foot throwing distance can help move loose snow away from the path being cleared, reducing the need to pile it directly beside the walkway.
Adjustable Direction and Ergonomic Handling
The directional plate rotates approximately 30 degrees to either side, allowing users to adjust the discharge direction. An adjustable handle helps accommodate different heights, while the dual safety switch requires deliberate activation before operation. These details make the tool more practical for routine winter maintenance, although its sliding design can be harder to maneuver over uneven pavement.
Lightweight Design and Simple Setup
Garvee markets this snow shovel as a lightweight option, with the product listing giving a weight of 9 pounds and the description citing 13 pounds. Because these figures differ, buyers should confirm the assembled weight before purchasing. The unit is designed for straightforward assembly and compact storage, without the bulk of a full-size snow blower.
What Customer Reviews Reveal
Customer feedback is generally positive. Buyers appreciate the cordless operation, straightforward assembly, and convenience for clearing smaller paths. Some report effective performance in fresh snow, while others mention reduced performance in wet or heavier snow and occasional clogging.
Long-term maintenance is another consideration. Some reviewers question the availability of replacement batteries and plastic wear components. Buyers planning to use the tool over multiple winters should check replacement-part availability before committing.
Who Should Buy This Model?
The Garvee 13-inch snow blower makes the most sense for homeowners who regularly clear short walkways, porch steps, decks, or a small section of driveway. It is less suitable for deep snowdrifts, compacted plow piles, or large areas requiring sustained operation. For those conditions, a more powerful, wider snow blower is likely a better investment.
Questions Buyers Often Ask
Q1. How far can it throw snow?
A: The advertised maximum throwing distance is 16.5 feet, although actual performance varies with snow conditions.
Q2. How long does the battery last?
A: Garvee lists approximately 25 minutes of runtime per charge.
Q3. Can it handle wet, heavy snow?
A: It is better suited to light, loose snow. Customer reports indicate that wet or heavy snow can reduce performance and cause clogging.
Q4. Is the battery and charger included?
A: Yes. The package includes one 20V 5.0Ah battery and a quick charger.
Q5. Is it suitable for a large driveway?
A: Its 13-inch clearing width and limited runtime make it better suited to smaller areas and targeted cleanup.
Final Verdict
The Garvee 13-Inch Cordless Snow Blower is a practical option for light snow removal in compact outdoor spaces. Its cordless design, directional control, and included battery and charger offer convenience without the size of a full-scale machine. However, its limited clearing width, short runtime, and reported difficulties with wet snow make it a task-specific tool rather than an all-purpose winter solution. Buyers with modest clearing needs may find it useful; those facing frequent heavy snowfall should consider a more capable model.
